The much anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4 device will be officially launched in Kenya on Tuesday, May 7, over a week after the initial launch in South Africa, South Korea and the United States.
HumanIPO can however report shipments are expected in the country from today, with clearing and dealer stocktaking to consume the rest of the period.
Earlier HumanIPO reported Samsung had entered into a partnership with local mobile providers Safaricom and Airtel, who will sell the phones with promotional data bundles.
Safaricom has said it will be retailing the phone backed by 4.5GB of data, while Airtel will offer a 21GB free data bundle. Those who make pre-orders will enjoy much lower costs, with Airtel marketing the device at KSh52,999 (approx US$630) and Safaricom at KSh57,999 (approx US$690).
Samsung has been widely ridiculed following the launch of the device in India, where the company remade the pop hit ‘Gangnam Style’ into ‘Samsung style’.
