Universal mobile solutions leader Mahindra Comviva has launched its music and content recommendation engine, enabling operators to maximise Value Added Service (VAS) sales through content and music matching.
Comviva recently collaborated with 70 partners, gaining music rights for 35,000 music assets across various genres in more than 30 languages as part of its VAS sale optimisation strategies.
African music service penetration has quadrupled since 2013, leading to music revenue and subscriber base increase, the company announced yesterday.
Atul Madan, head of digital services at Mahindra Comviva, said: “We have focused on expanding the operator’s digital music and infotainment ecosystem by bringing local content application and partners in addition to recognized international labels.”
The Comviva platform offers music and entertaining “infotainment” through discovery and analytic technology with recommendation tools, storefront management and business marketing for profit escalation.
According to the company, its services have assisted operators in sale growth of 50 per cent by offering advantages over competitors.
Recent infotainment platform additions on MyTV and Hi Life include television channels, news and health digital apps which are delivered across multiple channels in video, voice and text.
Transcript downloads are available from multiple sources including Facebook, SMS and Star to Copy, while music can be bought in video format or as a ringtone.
An 18 per cent growth of mobile music demand since 2012 has spurred the growth of the industry, driving approximately 40 per cent of operator profit.
A Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.61 per cent is expected for the mobile music industry in Africa over the next two years.
