iPhone 5S pre-orders from June – report

The yet-to-be-announced but widely expected iPhone 5S will be available for pre-order from June 20, with sales to begin in July, according to the latest rumours.

French website Nowhereelse says the next generation iPhone features on the internal sales material of Japanese telecom KDDI.

The website claims to have seen leaked documents clearly indicating the iPhone 5S will become available for order on June 20 and hit shops from July.

In addition, the documentation reveals the new model will run iOS 7, feature a fingerprint reader, and be endowed with a 13-megapixel camera.

This latest rumour ties in with recent claims that Apple was to begin production of the new iPhone model in the second quarter of the year, with a view to a summer launch.

Apple boss Tim Cook has also fuelled expectations by announcing the company has “some great stuff coming”.

Nowhereelse added its own prediction that the iPhone 5S may be officially unveiled at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference due to begin on June 10, and as such would be a timely platform to announce the new model and spur interest in time for June 20.

HumanIPO asked in March whether Apple was in an innovation freeze in the post-Steve Jobs era.
