Flytxt named ‘cool vendor’ for emerging markets

Mobile marketing technology provider Flytxt, which provides services to 23 cellular service providers (CSPs) across Africa, has been named a “Cool Vendor” by tech research firm Gartner.

In its report, “Cool Vendors in Emerging Markets, 2013″, Gartner identified Flytxt as a vendor which caught the eye because it offered innovatives solutions.

Among the CSPs that use Flytxt’s solutions and technologies are its first client YuMobile, which partnered with the provider in 2011, as well as Zantel Tanzania, Warid Uganda and Warid Congo.

According to Flytxt chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Vinod Vasudevan the inclusion in Gartner’s list was as a result of the unique products that have enabled CSPs get back economic value.

“We are pleased to be recognised by Gartner for our unique focus on generating more than 10 percent economic value from operator data by leveraging Big Data Analytics as well as for our proven and highly adopted revenue sharing model in emerging telecom markets,” he said.   

Flytxt vice president for product and marketing Abhay Doshi said he hoped the value proposition of enabling high impact marketing campaigns for increasing ARPU, reducing churn and increasing customer loyalty in the highly competitive prepaid market would help the company see increased interest from emerging and developed markets.

The platform serves more than 400 million subscribers and has generated around US$250 million incremental revenue for operators, according to the company.

The Flytxt corporate office is based in  the Netherlands, although the company has a presence in Delhi, Mumbai, Dhaka, Lagos, Nairobi and Dubai.

Among other vendors included in the “Cool Vendors” report are Interworks, Crittercism, ChannelEyes, SundaySky, 21CT and Solomo technologies.
