Windows has announced an update of Windows 8 as it crossed the 100 million count in license sales within a semester of release.
Windows aims to release an updated version of its operating system, provisionally named Windows Blue.
With the goal of sustaining flagship software interest, the new release will be developed to enhance simplified use and smaller device compatibility.
Tam Reller, co-head of Microsoft’s Windows, told Reuters: “We are being very real about what needs to change and changing it as thoughtfully and quickly as we can.”
Having crossed the 100 million count of Windows 8 license services within six months, the company is determined to keep working on its system towards perfection.
The Windows 8 sales rate has now proved to match the Windows 7 numbers, but is not expected to correspond with higher demands to level the year sales of its predecessor at 240 million.
Due to the generally confusing experience of Windows 8, the Blue version will attempt to restore a more user-friendly interface.
“The learning curve is real, and we need to address it,” said Reller. “We’re not sitting back and saying, they will get used to it.”
Windows 8 will also soon be adaptable for smaller tablet use, including the Apple iPad mini, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Google Inc Nexus 7, and Amazon’s Kindle Fire.
Moving into the hardware tablet market by supplying software will also escalate competition in this fastest-growing field.
