WordPress will be celebrating its tenth year of existence in eight African cities as part of its anniversary events, gathering enthusiasts in communities globally.
HumanIPO reported in April on the social-orientated future developments of the open source blogging and content management system (CMS).
South African celebrations will be held in Cape Town at the Oblivion in Harfield Village and the Bridge Street Brewery in Port Elizabeth on May 27.
Apart from the two South African-based celebrations, six other African countries will also be included in the list of events including Kenya (Mauá) and Nigeria (Wamba).
Three events are to take place in Uganda, one in Tanzania and another in Congo.
Worldwide celebrations will take place in 233 cities from Jakarta to Madrid.
Speaking to HumanIPO, Matt Mullenwag, founder of WordPress, owed his thriving initiative’s success to being an “excellent product, well developed and faster” compared to other CMSs.
Mullenwag visited Cape Town in April as a participating mentor to the Unreasonable at Sea entrepreneurs as their ship stopped in South Africa on their world cruise route.
