Eat and Tweet dinner

Christian Tunner, Great Britain’s High Commissioner to Kenya, has hosted the Eat and Tweet dinner at his residence to discuss issues surrounding social media.

Those in attendance included politician Martha Karua, the outgoing permanent secretary at the ex-Ministry of Information and Communication Bitange Ndemo and activist, lawyer and blogger Ory Okolloh.

The audience gave different comments and complaints about their experiences with this social media, reported The Star.

Among them The National Alliance (TNA) party chairman, Johnson Sakaja, said Twitter was helpful for assessing opinions in the country.

He said: “People engage at a safe distance. However, Twitter can also not be ignored, there is need to look at what people are saying to gauge the mood of the country.”

Former presidential candidate Martha Karua disagreed with online messages saying they only reflect the leader they support.
