Kenya’s EXT to release new mobile apps

Smartphone users in Kenya could be set to have more convenient, secure and financially managed lives once User Experience Technologies releases its Apps to the market in July.

 

In an interview with HumanIPO, the company’s chief executive officer (CEO) David Mulongo said: “The Personal Finance Manager, e-Pata and the GSM Home Security system applications are currently on trial and should be out in July.”

 The company, whose business is mainly innovation, came up with the applications to solve problems in Kenya as far as speed, comfort, security, cost effectiveness and safety are concerned.

“We wanted to solve problems facing our society through innovation and also have people experience what technology do for them.”

The GSM security system brings together many functionalities that will make it possible for the phone to alert the user that there is an intrusion in their home. It also helps the user monitor what is going on in their house.

Some  of the functionalities included in this application include an alarm system, lighting system, gas and smoke detectors, motion detectors and glass breaker detector all revolving around a microcontroller.

The app has an SMS-based alerting system and IP video and audio sending system that will alert the security alarm response company and owner of the house.

The Personal Finance Manager on the other hand sits on Android and helps users keep track of their spending .The functionalities in this app are in the income, budgeting, tips and expenses categories.

There is also e-Pata that will help people locate places and is expected to be most helpful to the hospitality industry. It will help people locate places, their prices and their services.

The app will first be used in Nairobi and will later move to other places. The company already has a database for the prices, services and services for the application.

Users can access the Apps through a yearly subscription that will cost them KSh1,000 (US $12) and KSh500 (US$6) per year.
