Microsoft has appointed its first female financial officer after promoting Amy Hood from its business division.
Hood, 41, has been working closely with Skype and Yammer in the US$24 billion company’s business division and will replace the outgoing Peter Klein who will leave at the end of June.
“Amy brings the right talents and experiences to the role as we continue to strengthen our focus on devices and services,” said Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief executive officer said.
“She has been an instrumental leader in the Microsoft Business Division (MBD), helping lead the transition to services with Office 365 and delivering strong financial and operational management throughout her time on the business.”
Hood joined Microsoft in December 2002 and became chief financial officer at the MBD in January 2010.
