Google will reveal the upgraded version of its Wallet at the company’s I/O conference next week, after abandoning plans to launch a physical credit card.
Google Wallet’s new updated features will offer users loyalty points and wider acceptance to an array of stores.
Wallet updates will be announced at the web giant’s I/O conference in San Francisco, California, next week.
HumanIPO reported earlier this week on the expected Google Maps improvements, also to be unveiled at the conference.
However, the enhanced benefits will not be integrated with other possible collaborative Google offers such as Google Now, which is accepted by selected airlines and film theatres.
The Wallet department has also gained a new employee recently as Nik Sathe, former vice president of architecture and infrastructure at eBay’s PayPal, joined Google.
Following the resignation announcement of Osama Bedier, vice president of wallets and payments at Google, the discarded plans for a credit card seemed related.
The credit card plans were intended to gather more information on spending habits, AllThingsD reported.
Evidence of the previously unplanned card discard includes the already built-in features on the online-based Wallet.
However, a failed demo run last week might also have contributed as chief executive officer Larry Page made the final decision to wipe card production off the drawing board.
