Patrick Makungu, deputy permanent secretary in Tanzania’s Ministry of Communication, Science, and Technology, has called on the army to work with technology to speed up country development.
Addressing army students from the Command and Staff College of Ghana in their tour of the ministry, Makungu urged the students that as well as completing their primary functions they should engage with technological activities, reported the Daily News/span>.
He said: “The other task is to cherish the existing good relations and cooperation among our states through sharing of our experiences in science and technology, which is instrumental for promoting the African continent’s development.”
Evelyne Mbede, the ministry’s director of science and technology, said through investment in technological innovations, developed countries have realised a lot of developments.
She added history has shown many innovations came about through army activities and so the military should recognise science and technology as an important opportunity for development.
