Facebook Home has reached one million downloads according to Google Play with the first 500,000 downloads having occurred in the first month.
Facebook director of mobile engineering Cory Ondrejka announced last week Home had reached one million downloads and the company launched an update of the app, which runs on Android, on Thursday, with further improvements expected in the coming weeks.
Google Play now classifies Facebook Home under the one million to five million range as per Sunday morning.
Facebook has more more than one billion users worldwide, so one million may have fallen way short of expectations.
The HTC First, otherwise known as the HTC Facebook Phone, which comes with Facebook Home pre-installed has been dropped in price to 99 cents and US network operator AT&T is expected to send back the products because of poor sales.
Facebook has however dismissed the low number of downloads.
“It’s not really important to us. What’s important to us is if people are liking the apps a lot,” Facebook director of Product Adam Mosser told CNET.
Facebook has promised to upgrade more features in the coming days to including adding a swipe movement to bring up the buddy list, and adding folders for easy access to apps.
