Etisalat clears air on Saka saga and may port him back

Etisalat Nigeria has wished their former ambassador and actor all the best and described him as “not our slave” after he appeared promoting their rivals MTN in an advert.

HumanIPO reported last month MTN Nigeria had released a television advert which featured popular actor and former Etisalat ambassador, Hafiz Oyetoro (known as Saka), promoting their network.

The video from the advert, found in the above link, went viral and reports emerged Etisalat had not treated the actor well, which was why he left.

But speaking to HumanIPO Doubrapade Koroye, Etisalat’s value added services specialist, said he did not believe Saka got a better contract from MTN.

“How much do you think he earned with us that made people think that. Those stories are myths,” he said.

According to him, the actor exercised his right to decide his future.

“Saka chose to go his own way just like many people. People choose their direction. He was not our slave. You know he wasn’t bound. So we wish him the best,” he said.

When asked whether Etisalat will consider porting him back, he said the company is not eliminating any possibility in the nearest future.

He said: “Who knows, who knows tomorrow?”
