BlackBerry has launched its latest device, the low-priced Q5, as it seeks to increase its mobile market share by targeting emerging markets.
The company unveiled the device yesterday, saying it will be available to users in Africa, Asia, Asia Pacific and Latin America.
The device is the third product from BlackBerry that operate on the BlackBerry 10 operating system (OS) platform, and has a physical keyboard that separates it from similar products released by Apple and Google.
It has 2GB of RAM, 8GB of flash memory, a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 3.1 inch LCD screen.
HumanIPO reported earlier today how the company had also revealed it will make its popular messenger service BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) available on other platforms such as Android and iOS this summer.
Furthermore, BlackBerry revealed it has made BlackBerry OS version 10.1 available for the Z10 and as a free update for BlackBerry 10. The updated version has unique features such as customisable notifications (sounds, vibration, LEDs) and improved cursor control.
With the updated camera app, users can now enjoy the HDR mode and the BlackBerry Hub has been improved to facilitate inter-device communications via PINs.
