Alai charged over Tweet

Controversial blogger Robert Alai has been charged in a Nairobi court for posting an annoying tweet regarding Siaya governor aspirant William Oduol.

According to the charge sheet Robert Alai Onyango was charged for sending an annoying tweet contrary to section 29(b) of the Kenya Information and Communication Act CAP 411 Laws of Kenya.

The charge sheet list the particulars of the charge as posting an annoying tweet or messagefor the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience and needless anxiety to William Oduol.

The blogger is accused to have on two occasions on the 3rd and 11th April posted that “William Oduol’s wife crying for justice, fears for her life.

News of his arrest broke out when the blogger himself posted on social media in a tweet on Facebook today morning.

Arrested because William Oduol instructed the cyber crime boss that I be arrested.

The blogger has accused head of cyber crime unit for being misused by politicians terming the charges defective and corrupt.

According to another post by the blogger he claims that he has been detained overnight.

This is however not the first time that the blogger has found himself on the wrong side of the law and has several cases awaiting him including one filed by the former government spokesman, another by the head of the civil service while the NCIC has accused him of propagating hate speech in the wake to the last general election.
