Sales of Samsung’s new Galaxy S4 smartphone will hit the 10 million mark next week, according to the company’s co-chief executive officer (co-CEO).
JK Shin told the Korea Times the flagship smartphone had been selling well since its April release.
“We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the previous model,” he said.
The statistics would make the S4 the company’s fastest selling smartphone to date.
“Samsung spent 50 days to pass the 10 million sales mark for the S3. The S4 will be Samsung’s first ’10 million seller’ device less than a month after its official debut,” Shin said.
HumanIPO reported last month statistics released by the International Data Corporation (IDC) which revealed Samsung had maintained its position as the “undisputed leader” in the global smartphone market.
The IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker showed Samsung shipped more units in the first quarter of 2013 than the next four vendors combined.
