New mobile application for Kenyan commuters

A mobile application has been developed to make it easier for commuters and operators to obtain information on Kenyan buses operating on various routes.

Kenya Tech Bus (KTB) is an Android mobile application that allows customers to check the location of transport company offices and ticket prices, as well as book tickets and check-in.

The app comes in English as well as local languages, with efforts being made to incorporate all languages.

“Technology is advancing and we need to come up with solutions that solve our problems and those that are also in line with our country’s Vision 2030,” said developer Cliff Motuka.

In addition to the bus companies KTB can help commuters locate designated restaurants online, browse through their menus, order and make payments through electronic money transfer.

It is also possible to track the route to a destination and get an estimate of distance covered by alternative routes.

Operators will also benefit from this application as it will let them know how their company is doing on social media, as KTB allows users to view company tweets, take photographs and post them on Facebook, besides enabling additional advertising adventures.
