Google Kenya will sponsor the Innovation Awards at the upcoming 2013 Connected Kenya Summit in what the company terms as a move to foster more innovation by recognising “the exemplary work that creators and innovators are doing”.
Joe Mucheru, Google East Africa Lead, says he hopes to see innovative ideas in which businesses and stakeholders in other sectors are using technology to enhance their output.
“What we expect from sponsoring the Innovation Awards is to see people showcase the innovative ways they are using technology to run business, in education, for entertainment and in their daily activities,” he said.
The awards will see 44 Tandaa grantees and 16 selected finalists battle it out.
It will be the third time the summit will be honouring entrepreneurs who have come up with innovative solutions.
The event, which kicks off next Monday, expects to bring together leaders and players in the ICT sector and provide a platform from where they can come up with strategies that can foster innovation, especially geared towards the public sector.
