Global ICT solutions provider Huawei has partnered with the Botswanan Ministry of Transport and Communication in Gaborone to commemorate the ITU World Information Society day.
In Botswana the focus of the day was to reach out to communities that are still without ICTs, with a view to raising awareness of the possibilities that the use of Internet and other information technologies can bring to societies.
Huawei supported the initiative through sponsoring full sports kits for the community-owned Maun Tigers Football Club, and covered the implementation of projects in Botswana which enhanced connectivity for thousands of citizens living in the area.
“As a global ICT leader with local presence, Huawei is working continuously to improve the lives of people in Botswana and Africa at large, through our solutions and products,” said Abel Deng Feng, chief executive officer (CEO) of Huawei Technologies in Botswana.
“As a responsible corporate citizen, Huawei is committed to continue contributing to local communities in different areas such as social contributions, knowledge transfer, and environmental conservation to bridge the digital divide.”
