Konga.com clears air on controversy surrounding new employee

Konga.com has revealed new employee Abdullateef Abdulsalam did not jump ship from Google but is joining Konga.com in furtherance of the working relationship between Konga and the search engine giant.

A top executive at Konga.com told HumanIPO Abdulsalam will still be working on several Google projects that relate to Konga.

“Abdul did not “jump ship”, he is only continuing the great relationship that exists between Google and many great Nigerian companies including Konga.com, and will continue to work on several Google related projects for Konga,” the executive said.

“We are really excited about our new hire Abdullateef Abdulsalam, as he is coming to join a culture of excellence and service delivery. At Konga we believe in looking for top talent and when we find it, we do everything to ensure that such talent joins our company and remains happy for a long time.”

He described the new employee as one of Nigeria’s outstanding experts in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and said Abdulsalam had worked with Konga.com even when he was officially with Google.

“Abdullateef is one of Nigeria’s top talents in Search Optimisation, Content and Online advertising, and he worked heavily with the Konga Team while he was at Google. Abdul agreed to join us because he believes in the Konga.com vision; he wants to be a part of what Sim Shagaya and the Konga.com team are building in Africa,” he said.
