A Nigerian app developer has developed Nearest Locator, an app that assists in finding the closest stores stocking products of interest at discounted prices.
Ayoola Ajebeku told HumanIPO Nearest Locator helps users find their way around unknown areas and added the app is aimed at mapping developing nations
“Nearest Locator is a location-based mobile app that helps users easily locate and navigate around an unknown area, with detailed information about the place, with the aim of accurately mapping developing countries,” he said.
“Imagine a young Nigerian, Uche Alaba, needed to post a letter and had asked everywhere for a post office but no one had an idea. He had combed up to three streets away from his immediate spot of identifying the need before someone who had used the post office recently pointed him to the address.
“What made Uche’s ordeal even more annoying was that the post office was located on the same street from where he had commenced his search. But the post office had no signpost to assist finders with any inkling.
“With Nearest Locator, Uche need not search too long, all he need do is open the mobile app on his phone and press the post office button. Then choose one from the list of post offices closest to him and get directions,” he said.
The app is available on Ovi Store, BlackBerry App World and Google Play for users of Android devices.
