Galaxy S4 named world’s top smartphone

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been named the top-rated smartphone in the world just a month after its release, dethroning the LG Optimus G.

HumanIPO reported yesterday Samsung sold more than 10 million Galaxy S4 smartphone since its launch, making it the company’s fastest selling smartphone to date.

Now independent, non-profit product testing outfit Consumer Reports has given the S4 top marks following its testing of the product

“The Samsung Galaxy S4, one of the most advanced Android smartphones ever, is our new top-rated smartphone. The S4 delivered top-notch performance in the most critical areas of our tests, including the camera,” said Consumer Reports.

“The [Galaxy] S4 has an excellent 5-inch, high-definition (1080p) touch-screen display, as well as oodles of gesture- and sensor-based tools for accessing and sharing content you create and capture on your phone. The display is sensitive enough to use with gloves on – handy during cold weather.”

Consumer Reports also noted the S4′s ability to multi-task. “The S4 lets you run two apps simultaneously in a split-screen view. For instance, you can watch a video while checking e-mail, or you can use Google Maps and Messaging simultaneously.”

The LG Optimus G slipped to second place while the HTC One is in third. In fourth and fifth place are Samsung’s Galaxy S3 and Apple’s iPhone 5.
