Redesigned interface for Apple’s iOS 7 – report

Rumours are circulating the next version of Apple’s iOS operating system could see a redesigned interface.

9to5mac.com reports sources as saying iOS 7, which is to be unveiled at the Worlwide Developers Conference in June, will have a whole new look reports. The sources say iOS is 7 is “black, white, and flat all over”.

Apple’s senior vice president of industrial design Jony Ive is the man credited with the changes, which do not follow the texture-heavy interfaces previously favoured by predecessor Scott Forstall and Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

Instead, sources say Ive is spearheading an overhaul of features that will target the look and feel of the device, with heavy features dropped and new black and white user interface elements added.

Some of the features that are set to change, according to the report, include linen and leather textures such as the iPad Calendar app, which will have flat white and black colouring, and the time bar at the top of the phone lock screen, which will now be a black, shine-free interface.
