Users bash new Flickr design

Flickr users have posted disgruntled comments on the Flickr help forum intended for constructive criticism, following reforms of the layout design by Yahoo!.

Thea Lamkin, community manager at Flickr, invited users to comment with “questions, concerns, suggestions and other non-bug related problems” for response.

But users took full advantage of the opportunity with more than 283 pages of posted remarks, mostly indicating the preference of the older layout.

Though most comments appeared as polite requests, rather than demands, more direct remarks voicing opinions, describing the change as “awful”, “messy” and “freaking hideous” were also made.

Staff members took offence to the comments, updating users with a post, saying: “Personal attacks on the staff or other members will not be tolerated, and may affect your ability to take part in discussion here on the Help Forum.”

Despite the general negative feedback, some photographers stepped up to defend the new design.

Though no changes to the currently implemented design have yet been made, staff promised to look at user friendliness and proper operation of all pages.
