Apple chief executive officer (CEO) Tim Cook has hinted at the development of “game changers” in the line of wearable tech gadgets to challenge competitors Google and Samsung.
Cook was speaking at the AllThingsDigital conference in California yesterday (Tuesday) on the potential of creating wearable devices to expand market offerings currently resting on smartphones and tablets.
“It’s an area where it’s ripe for exploration,” Cook said.
Apple is reportedly working on a smartwatch, with similar attachable products to follow, described as “game changers”.
The CEO is however sceptical about the appeal of Google Glass to the general market.
He commented: “There’s nothing that’s going to convince a kid who has never worn glasses or a band or a watch to wear one, or at least I haven’t seen it.”
Furthermore Apple are also looking to improve online television solutions, without revealing any specifics about its strategy.
Apple devices will be upgraded with enhanced mobile software, and the company will continue its online service focus in investments.
On the vagueness accompanying a lack of details on new developments, Cook feels the surprise tactic works best.
“We believe very much in the element of surprise. We think customers love surprises,” he said.
HumanIPO reported last week on Apple as the global champion in brand value.
