Taiwanese electronic manufacturer Foxconn has partnered with Mozilla to launch a Firefox-operated device to be announced on June 3.
Rumoured to be a tablet, the unrevealed Firefox OS device under development is to be produced by Mozilla in co-operation with LG, ZTE and Alcatel.
Also known as Hon Hei Precision Industry, Foxconn is renowned for its use of iOS, Google and Android platforms in manufactured devices.
The group is aiming to diversify its product line by adding Firefox as an operating system option.
Hon Hai’s main income was derived from iPad and iPhone production, though sales recently declined from Apple devices.
HumanIPO reported last month on the resignation of former Mozilla chief executive officer, Greg Kovacs.
