Web browser Opera Software has released the first beta version of its Opera web browser that uses the Chromium engine for Windows and Mac.
The all-new browser, dubbed Opera Next 15, was built from scratch with a refreshed design and a slew of new features for a better browsing experience. The browser has a new user interface, which gives it a sleek and modern look.
In addition, users can search directly from a newly combined address and search bar where you simply start typing a webpage address to go directly to a site, or enter a search term to look for suggestions.
“Completely rethinking a browser in today’s competitive market is a big thing,” said Krystian Kolondra, Opera’s senior vice president of desktop products. “Our new browser is more beautiful and allows users to harness the massive amount of web content they are faced with today.”
Opera Software said it will implement a new versioning scheme that will reflect the version of the engine that the web browser is using.
Also new is the ‘Stash’ feature, which lets people ‘pin’ items or entire websites for easy reference when shopping, doing homework or other kinds of research.
There is also the Discover feature, which serves up articles from around the web based on categories a user is interested in — such as news, food and technology.
