The South African State IT Agency (SITA) has appointed Sithembiso Freeman Nomvalo as its new chief executive officer (CEO) for up to a year, replacing Blake Mosley-Lefatola, who left his post last week.
Cabinet has approved the appointment of Nomvalo, who will fill the post while the agency seeks a more full-time appointment.
In a statement, SITA said the board had decided after a strategic review that Mosley-Lefatola would leave his position eight months before the expiration of his contract, with Nomvalo now becoming the agency’s 17th CEO.
His appointment is aimed at “assisting in ensuring the finalisation of the implementation of the board turnaround intervention and in enhancing SITA’s ability to fulfil its legislative mandate”.
HumanIPO reported earlier this week SITA had hired hackers in an attempt to protect websites owned by the government from international hackers following the compromising of the South African Police Service (SAPS) website.
The SAPS website was hacked through a data dump, which saw exposure of the private information of numerous whistleblowers.
