Google has changed its developer policies for Glass, banning apps containing sexually explicit content.
HumanIPO reported last week adult Android app developer MiKandi was developing porn for Google Glass.
This followed Google’s release of the developer guidelines for its Glass Mirror API, allowing developers to begin creating applications for the wearable device. eBay is amongst those developing applications for the product./p>
Though MiKandi has finished its first app for the platform – Tits and Glass – Google has now updated its policies, with the first paragraph of “Content policies” now reading: “We don’t allow Glassware content that contains nudity, graphic sex acts, or sexually explicit material. Google has a zero-tolerance policy against child pornography.
“If we become aware of content with child pornography, we will report it to the appropriate authorities and delete the Google Accounts of those involved with the distribution.”
MiKandi has claimed nearly 10,000 unique visitors visited the app in a day, with a dozen Glass users signing up. It confirmed an interest in using Glass to facilitate “two-way adult interaction”.
Chief executive officer (CEO) Jesse Adams said in a blog post MiKandi had not been informed about changes to Google’s policies and that they would make changes with the app to comply with Google’s policies.
“When we received our Glass and started developing our app 2 weeks ago, we went through the policy very carefully to make sure we were developing the app within the terms,” she wrote.
“We double checked again last week when making the site live on the Internet and available for install for testing during last week’s announcement. We were not notified of any changes and still haven’t been notified by Google.
“Although the app is still live and people are using it, at this point we must make changes to the app in order to comply with the new policies. Expect to see changes to the application tomorrow.”
