Russia Today has passed the one billion viewers mark on YouTube, becoming the first news provider to reach the count.
RT.com, Russia Today’s channel boasting 530 million viewers, also posts highlight broadcasts on its YouTube channel.
The company announced its viewer count achievement yesterday (Tuesday).
Posted highlights include footage of renowned reporter Sara Frith and the meteor shower in February.
Commenting on the plus-billion viewer status, Firth said: “One billion clicks is just the beginning.”
The channel currently has 869,502 subscribers and 1,002,611,537 viewers.
YouTube celebrated its eighth birthday last month with the announcement of 100 hours of video uploads every minute.
