Vine lands on Android

Twitter’s video sharing app Vine is now compatible with Android smartphones, five months after it was launched for iOS.

The free app allows users to record and share six second video clips on Vine itself, as well as on Twitter and Facebook.

Vine already has 13 million users on iPhone and, announcing the move onto the biggest mobile platform, Android engineer Sara Haider said: “Though we’ve been very focused on releasing Vine for Android, we’ve continued to release updates and add new features to the iOS app.

“As a result, the two apps are not perfectly in sync, but that won’t be the case for long.”

Features on Vine which will be available on the Android version include video creation and playback, the exploration of popular posts and trends and the ability to find friends.
