Airtel latest Nigerian operator to offer Facebook data deal

Airtel Nigeria has announced a new data plan offering subscribers unlimited access to Facebook’s social media platform, a move closely resembling that of rival Globacom.

HumanIPO reported last week Globacom had launched Glo Zero Facebook, with no data charges for basic use of the social network.

Airtel stated: “It is a bundle that offers Facebook-specific value for money. A customer can now buy a value bundle for use in daily, weekly or monthly variants on Facebook alone.

“It is important to note that all other internet activity will be charged from a customers’ main account or from the data bundle account balance.”

The bundle, Airtel said, can be used on any data-enabled device and no unique SIM card is needed to enjoy the bundle.

All prepaid and postpaid customers with data capable handsets are eligible.

The bundle however, does not support Airtel’s Double Data Offer and auto-renewal. Users can not use the plan outside Nigeria and subscribers will not get the network’s smartbytes benefits.

The Daily Facebook Bundle costs NGN50, a weekly plan is NGN200 (US$1.26) and monthly is NGN500 (US$3.15).
