A school experiment has suggested plants could struggle to grow when placed next to Wi-Fi routers.

Five Danish students wanted to test the effect of mobile phone radiation on humans, but their school did not have the required equipment to carry out the experiment, reported Mother Nature Network.

Instead they attempted to grow six trays of garden cress in two rooms. One room also contained two Wi-Fi routers, but the other did not.

According to the girls’ calculations the two routers emitted the same radiation as an ordinary cellphone.

The girls measured the progress of the two sets of cress over 12 days and while the plants in the room without the routers thrived, those in the other did not grow at all.

The Karolinska Institute in Sweden is reportedly interested in repeating the experiment in a controlled professional scientific environment.
