South African bank Absa’s cash rewards are now redeemable on a mobile phone, as part of the group’s mobile banking platforms.
A first for South Africa, Absa.mobi enables South Africans to use cash vouchers through its mobile banking site, increasing accessibility.
Arrie Rautenbach, head of retail banking, said: “We are proud to be able to reward our customers with the convenience of earning these rewards in cold, hard cash and doing so at leisure, whenever and wherever, using a mobile phone.”
The mobile bank accessibility to vouchers follows on the similar online service through which vouchers to the value of ZAR10 million (US$1 million) have been redeemed up to date.
“Consumers appreciate the ability to redeem their cash-back rewards at any time, offering them even greater control of how they choose to use their rewards,” Rautenbach said.
Absa is also offering free Absa Rewards for Absa Gold Value Bundle Account for all signups by July 31, 2013, as well as three months’ customer assistance with the switching of salary and debit orders.
Absa Rewards can also be converted to Smart Shopper points at Pick n Pay until the end of September with a five per cent cash addition because of the bank and supermarket’s partnership.
Described by Rautenbach as “unrivalled choice and instant fulfilment”, the new rewards will simplify customers’ lives with strengthened brand promise delivery from Absa.
