ePAY Kenya introduces digital marketplace

ePAY-Kenya has introduced a new sales platform for merchants looking to sell digital products to the Kenyan and international markets.

Known as ePAYDUKa, the platform is essentially a virtual shopping mall that will sell downloadable products.

Speaking to HumanIPO, ePAYDUKa’s chief executive officer (CEO) Caesar Waganagwa said the inspiration to open the shop was to expand and harness the e-commerce spirit in Kenya.

“We facilitate the selling of intellectual property or digital products; only downloadable products such as e-books, software, PLR Content, e-articles, business templates and website resources such as PHP scripts,” Waganagwa said.

“ePAYDUKa registers digital products everywhere in the world and not just in Kenya.”

To get an account in the shop, vendors must obtain an application form and give their credentials.

They will then upload their products on the account and wait for buyers, with the marketing of the programme done by ePAYDUKa.

Once the customer buys the product they will then pay through M-Pesa, Moneybooker or PayPal, with the money kept by the company for two weeks to ascertain that the product is working well.

ePAYDUKa also acts as arbitrator whenever a problem arises between the customer and the vendor.

If there is no complaint after two weeks then the vendor can have their money and the company pays vendors every Wednesday.

Vendors too are protected from intellectual property thieves by a clause in the agreement which prevents them from infringing on others’ copyright.

Once a buyer pays for a product they cannot download it more than three times and the link will stay operational for only three days before it expires.

e-PAY Kenya is planning to product more products in the future.
