Samsung’s Galaxy Star campaign is seeking to promote youth empowerment in Nigeria by sponsoring 10 young amateur videographers and filmmakers on a trip to Dubai.
In Dubai the budding filmmakers will receive training seminars and workshops to improve their production and directing skills.
Announcing the campaign in Lagos, Emmanouil Revmatas, director of handheld products at Samsung Electronics West Africa, said prospective participants can register by shooting a video with a Galaxy Star smartphone and upload it to Samsung’s website.
“Individuals interested in participating in the initiative are required to shoot a video using the Galaxy Star smartphone and upload same on Samsung’s website between June 3 and July 7, 2013. Twenty winning videos will be shortlisted via public voting after which 10 finalists will be selected for the trip to Dubai,” Revmatas said.
Olajumoke Okikiolu, marketing manager for handheld products at Samsung Electronics West Africa, said: “At Samsung, we are committed to providing avenues for Nigerian youths to pursue their dreams and passions, as we believe that this would help to unlock the country’s huge economic potential.”
“The workshops being organised in Dubai for the empowerment of winners of the Galaxy Star video competition is one of several initiatives that Samsung is undertaking towards achieving this goal.”
