Mapping with Google goes live

Google has launched online mapping course Mapping with Google, to educate users on how to use its improved Maps service.

Enhanced features can be explored with the interactive video, text lessons, activities and projects by registering online for free.

Applicants will have the opportunity to preview the updated version of Google Maps.

“Mapping with Google is a self-paced, online course developed to help you better navigate the world around you by improving your use of the new Google Maps, Maps Engine Lite, and Google  Earth,” Google posted on its blog.

HumanIPO reported last week on Google’s update on its API of online maps.

The company announced its plans to improve its online mapping services prior to strategy revelations at the I/O conference in May.

New features include storytelling via 3D imagery and site plots for trips as shareable with friends.

“The world is a big place, we like to think that you can make it a bit more manageable and adventurous with Google’s mapping tools,” the search engine giant said.

Google experts and global participants are available for connection via Google+ Hangouts from June 10 to June 24.

Participants have a choice of engaging with either Google Maps, Google Earth or both.

A certificate will be awarded to Mapping course completers.
