MTN has ditched the Uncapped Lite and Uncapped Pro data packages it has run in South Africa since 2010 in favour of new price plans.
The two deals have not been available for renewal or purchase since June 1 and have been replaced with three packages priced at ZAR299 per month (US$29) for 5GB, ZAR 499 (US$49) per month for 9GB, and ZAR899 (US$89) per month for 18GB.
HumanIPO reported last month Cell C had altered its own data packages to offer all smartphone contracts at the same rate.
The move by MTN means its data offers no longer include the opportunity to be uncapped.
