Nokia has launched its ONE campaign against poverty, which uses images captured by journalists, bloggers and amateur photographers on the Lumia 920 smartphone.
These images will then be projected onto the Tate Modern gallery in London from tonight (Tuesday) until Thursday.
Nokia is further supporting the campaign by allowing the images to be uploaded onto its Facebook page and has created the #nokiaxONECampaign hashtag to spread the message via Twitter.
The campaign, that runs by the theme Progress via Protest, will also see the launch of a new music-based campaign dubbed agit8 to “showcase the incredible progress” made in fighting poverty.
Nokia has also been encouraging the community to make their voices heard by capturing and sharing images, stories and experiences that support the theme.
The campaign organisers say research has shown that world poverty has been reduced by 50 per cent over the last 20 years and can be virtually eliminated by 2030.
According to statistics, most of the world’s poorest countries are in Africa, with a number in Asia.
North America and Australia are the two continents with less than five per cent of the population living on less than US$1.25 a day.
