Apple is reported to be preparing a licensed controller, consistent with the latest iOS 7 mobile platform on iPhone and iPad devices this year.

No design has been revealed, but sources at PocketGamer and information leaked on the Apple Developers site suggests the gamepad will be compatible with iPad and iPhone.

The gamepad is already in production and the release date will be announced later in the year, according to Apple WWDC 2013 keynote.

This certification will ensure controller with the correct button layout, analogue stick dead zone, an ergonomic build and will test button response time as well.

The iOS 7 game controller is hoped to transform the iPhone and iPad into a handheld gaming panel like the PS Vita or Nintendo 3DS, or a wireless standalone controller connecting through Bluetooth.

Sources said that Logitech and MOGA, the makers of Android game controllers, will acquire license gamepads for iOS 7 devices such as iPhone and iPad this year.
