Microsoft has released a free Microsoft Office app for its Office 365 subscribers on Apple’s iOS.
The app is just available for smartphones with no iPad version yet and has been the subject of speculation for the past few months.
The app allows iOS Office 365 subscribers view and edit Powerpoint files stored in the cloud (SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro or Sharepoint servers) or attached to emails, including those that are offline.
The app can also create new Word and Excel documents for the iPhone 4, a fifth generation iPod Touch running iOS 6.1 or later.
The interlinking of the app and the Office 365 could be seen as a way of Microsoft enticing people to the latter that costs US$99.99 for an annual subscription to potential buyers.
The 58MB app will be available in 29 languages including English, Spanish, Chinese, German, French and Korean.
