Skype has made its video messaging service available to users on Mac, iOS, Android and BlackBerry, having previously limited the service to Windows 8 users.
The service allows users to send an unlimited number of short video messages to friends while they are offline.
In a blog post, Skype said: “Want to say goodnight to your kids while traveling, but you’ll be up in the air? Need to wish your dad a happy birthday, but can’t seem to catch up? Skype can help you connect with the special people in your life – even when your schedules conflict.”
Users can send a video message by tapping the “video message” button and pressing record. Recorded messages can be up to three minutes long, and can be previewed, deleted and re-recorded. Only the recipient will be able to view the message.
