CIO 100 Awards 2013 to be held in Rwanda

CIO East Africa will be hosting the CIO 100 2013 Symposium and Awards from July 10-12 in collaboration with the Rwanda Development Board and the Rwanda Ministry of Youth and ICT.

The event’s theme is “Value creation through innovation” has attracted over 300 participants across East Africa.

A CIO award recognises excellence in the execution of IT and recognises the people and organisations that developed the projects. It also awards the top 100 organisations in the region.

“This competition is the largest ICT competition awards in Africa and is set to feature the most successful companies in IT innovation from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. The award provides a networking platform for IT buyers and recognises industry leaders,” Harry Hare, director of CIO East Africa, said.

Since ICT has become an integral part of a company’s business strategy, CIO has been pushing to make it possible for companies to tap into business segments and optimise processes shared in its publications in the entire region.

This year’s awards will be the third annual event in which CIO recognises a mark of IT excellence.

According to a survey by CIO East Africa magazine as per the previous year’s award ceremonies, the CIO 100 Annual Awards is among the top 10 most influential corporate events in Africa.

Kenya Education Network (KENET) is among previous winners of the prestigious CIO 100 Annual Awards.

KENET offers internet connectivity to educational institutions in addition to linking them with a research network.

Eat Out was runner-up in the same year, recognised for their project that has seen many restaurants having an online presence where diners can browse through menus and make restaurant bookings.
