South African digital publishing company Friends of Design will be hosting a series of free workshops during July, giving online education opportunities to underprivileged local communities.
Kicking off on July 1, Winter School Digital Publishing Workshops will be free for matrics (final year school learners) and open to teachers.
Workshops will equip attendees with knowledge and skills regarding migration to digital communication platforms with communication and interaction.
Digital Publishing Suite (DPS) for Students workshops will take place on July 1 and 2, followed by the same course presented for teachers at a cost of ZAR1,499 (US$146) on July 3 to 4.
Another student-aimed session, Photoshop for Students, will take place on 8 and 9 July.
Applicants who enrol before June 14 will receive a 30 per cent discount.
Friends of Design will donate 20 per cent of profits from DPS courses for the roof rebuilding project of Trinity International Church in Khayelitsha.
The digital company aims to aid the Cape Town township Khayelitsha community with the initiative.
Friends of Design is part of the Digital Arts Academy.
