The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced it has filled six executive management vacancies.
The South African Press Association (SAPA) reports the appointments include Sipho Masinga as group executive for technology and Itani Tseisi as executive for risk and governance.
Zwelibanzi Mthembu is the new head of strategy, Iris Francis becomes chief executive officer (CEO) of the SABC Foundation, Jabulani Mabaso now heads human capital services and Madoda Shushu is in charge of procurement.
SABC chief executive officer (CEO) Lulama Mokhobo said: “These appointments of skilled people will help the organisation deliver on its set objectives and make sure there is stability at the SABC as we implement our three year corporate plan effectively, which is crucial in us fulfilling our public service mandate.”
Kaizer Kganyago, spokesman for the state broadcaster, said: “It has become imperative for the organisation, as it is steadily becoming financially stable, to complement this with individuals who will bring immense value as we take the SABC forward.”
There are now only three senior positions at the SABC – chief operating officer, chief financial officer and head of news.
HumanIPO reported in April South African President Jacob Zuma had endorsed an interim board at the SABC, after a decision to dissolve the original board was taken in March following a heated meeting of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Communications (PCC).
This came after the resignations of chairman Ben Ngubane and his deputy Thami ka Plaatjie in March and those of a further six board members just days later.
