Yahoo! has updated to allow users to access its features from its new acquisition Tumblr, the purchase of which was officially sealed today.
HumanIPO reported last month Yahoo! was looking to acquire the social network for US$1.1 billion, in an effort to increase its presence in the mobile market.
“In celebration, we’ve given this blog a bit of a facelift thanks to Jonathan Moore from Style Hatch, and we’ve brought along some of our friends, too — you can now follow the search, Messenger, Mail, Sports, Answers and Flickr,” said Yahoo! chief executive officer (CEO) Marissa Mayer said in a blog post.
The CEO reiterated that Tumblr will continue to operate as a separate business, led by David Karp as CEO. Tumblr’s product roadmap, their team and tone will also remain the same.
Yahoo! also does not have any plans to change their mission, to empower creators and curators alike to do what they do best.
Mayer said Karp and his team were redefining creative expression online and they were waiting for the outcome.
