The Congress of South African Trade Unions will today protest against e-tolling in Gauteng, South Africa, in the form of a motorcade.
COSATU said the protesters gathered at the COSATU head office in Braamfontein at 8am.
The “drive-slow” motorcade began at 9am on the M1 North and will be proceeding to the N1 North towards the Olifantsfontein off-ramp.
The motorcade will then turn back on the the N1 from the South towards the Diepkloof interchange and will then take the N12 East and finally onto the M1 North towards the Smit Street off-ramp where it will end at the COSATU head offices.
The Johannesburg metro police (JMPD) will be on the scene to monitor the protest action.
“A lot of officers will monitor the process closely and cars which stop on the freeway will be towed to the JMPD impound lot,” the Citizen quoted Wayne Minnaar, chief superintendent as saying.
COSATU conducted a similar protest in the province in May where the protesters took their action to the N12, N3, R24 and R21 freeways in Johannesburg.
