Tanzania-based Maxcom Africa to make inroads in Kenya, Uganda

Tanzanian payment solutions provider Maxcom Africa is to open its doors to Ugandan and Kenyan customers, offering residents access to integrated services offered by various mobile operators at particular point of sales.

Speaking to HumanIPO, Maxcom project development manager Laurent Ivo explained the company – through its brand name MaxMalipo – works with mobile operators to integrate all services and offer them at designated points of sales with Maxcom agents.

“Not everybody can be able to travel for long distances to get the services they require, we therefore make it easier for them by bring the service closer to them,” Ivo said.

“There is also the problem of long queues often experienced by customers when seeking services such as buying airtime, paying subscription fees for pay-TV, sending and receiving money and so on. We work to eliminate the long queues by bringing the services closer home.”

Some of the mobile operators whose services the company has successfully integrated in Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi include Airtel, Tigo, Vodacom and Sasatel, while Zuku, StarTimes and DStv are some of the pay-TV companies whose services have been integrated by Maxcom.

Maxcom is currently in talks with major mobile operators in Kenya and it is expected the firm will be fully operational in Kenya within a month or so.
