Apple’s iPhone 5 has been labelled the slowest smartphone compared to its rivals, according to an industry recognised test carried out by UK watchdog Which?.
The iPhone 5, possibly the world’s most popular and sought after smartphone, came seventh out of seven in the Geekbench 2 technical test.
The Geekbench 2 technical test measures both memory and processor performance on various smartphone platforms.
Should a smartphone achieve a high score then it should perform well when accessing applications, playing games and editing photos.
According to the results, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 was assessed as twice as fast as the iPhone 5. Furthermore BlackBerry, Google, HTC and Sony smartphones were all revealed to be faster than the iPhone 5 with regards to applications, games and photos.
“Undoubtedly, Apple will upgrade its next iPhone with an improved processor when it launched later this autumn,” Sky News quoted Which? as saying.
“For the moment, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is the phone to beat when it comes to speed,” concluded Which?.
The smartphones were rated according to points.
Samsung’s Galaxy S4 scored 3,188, HTC One achieved 2,789, Sony Xperia Z got 2,173, Blackberry Z10 scored 1,698 with Apple’s iPhone 5 following closely behind with 1,664.
