Organisations are not upgrading their networks – Raoul Tecala

Raoul Tecala, Dimension Data’s business development director for network integration, has said organisations are not upgrading their networks for enterprise mobility and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environments as aggressively as expected.

Tecala however noted this will change in order to accommodate the new structure of future networks and the cost saving that it brings.

He therefore encouraged clients to be more architectural in their thinking and planning.

“We advise clients to think, plan and budget more architecturally, rather than reactively, when refreshing networks. The pressure to provide a more flexible, wireless environment conducive to enterprise mobility and BYOD will only grow stronger in the future,” Tecala said.

Tecala stated this while presenting the 2013 Network Barometer Report published by Dimension Data.

The Network Barometer Report 2013 on the status of networks globally aggregates data from 233 organisations and the Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM) Assessments conducted by Dimension Data around the world during 2012.

The Report reviews networks’ readiness to support business by reviewing the security vulnerabilities, end-of-life status and configuration variance from best practice of network devices.
